My group in Integrated Case Study hasn't done much over the past week. Much of the basis for the normalisation was done in the lab on Tuesday. The member assigned with the first step was busy so he only sent it on to us today. The member assigned with the second step probably won't be able to send it on to me (for the third step) before tomorrow but this probably isn't a serious problem as this section of the project isn't due until next week.
There is no Database Systems 2 on Wednesday because it is St. Patrick's Day. I'm going to enjoy the brief break but there's an assessment next week so I'm going to have some studying to do.
The assessment in Web Development Fundamentals was straight forward. I think I did OK. It's a relief to have a module that is not particularly taxing.
I should be doing more study for WAN Technologies but I plan on making up for it over the Easter Holidays.
I've just finished and submitted the assignment for Applied Data Structures. It was due on Friday but fortunately the lecturer was flexible and said the deadline could be extended to Monday or Tuesday.

According to our work schedule the first requirement for Integrated Case Study was due on Tuesday. As only half the class turned up the deadline was extended to next week. We've been divided into groups of about four people and my group is working reasonably well together. The course's assignments are due at intervals until April when all documentaion will need to be submitted. What we're doing isn't going to be marked until then so there is plenty of time to make corrections.
Database Systems 2 is quite difficult. We're doing queries at the moment and I really need to put more work into it.
Web Development Fundamentals is very easy commpared to my other modules. The first assessment is next week. It's open book and at a PC which should make it relatively easy.
WAN Technologies has about the same level of difficulty as the other networking modules I've taken already. We were given a case study this week. It looks like quite a bit of work will need to go into it, but it isn't due until the end of April so I'm not panicking.
I have an assignment due in Applied Data Structures next week. I've got a lot to do. I hope I don't leave it all until the last minute.

My card access to lab IT1.3 was revoked for some reason so I'm back to depending on someone already in one of the labs to let me in. I contacted someone in the SU and they contacted Jim ODwyer but they just told me what I already knew - the doors should be open from 9 to 5 but students are locking the doors when they use their cards.

I found out this week that I have card access to lab IT1.3 so the situation isn't as bad as I thought it was. The lecturer I contacted told me the pogram I need for her module can be run from a USB flash drive which means I can access the program when I use a PC in Open Access. This is very helpful because it is not on the PCs in IT1.3.

So I'm back to college after the Xmas holidays and setttling into the new routine. I'm doing five modules this semester instead of the typical four for an evening student doing this course - Web Development Fundamentals, Integrated Case Study, Database Systems 2, WAN Technologies and Applied Data Structures. They all seem interesting and some I expect to be more challenging than others.
I'm taking the Web Development Fundamentals module with the day time students. It's scheduled for Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at times which are convenient for me so I decided to take it as an additional subject and I'm confident I can handle the extra workload.
I'd like access to the IT labs at college because certain programs I need to use are not available in Open Access. I went to the CIT Card Office to see if they could give me access to the labs but I was told I needed to speak to one of the technicians. I found the technician but she told me she was not in a position to grant card access to the labs and that the labs are open during the day until 5pm. Unfortunately it seems that people are using their card on the doors during the day and locking them inadvertantly and as an evening student access to the labs after 5 pm would be very convenient. The technician suggested I contact one of my lecturers. I have and hopefully next week something can be done.
